THEODORE (RIVARD services were held for Theodore 'Rivard on Thursday morning, June 19, at the Catholic Church in North Troy, with a high mass of requiem being celebrated by the 'Rev. Father Mooney, assisted by a deacon and subdeacon. Mr. Rivard's death occurred on Tuesday, June 17, after several months of failing health.

He lived in Newport for many years and moved to North Troy about four years ago. He was born in Rock Island, on 25.0 1874, the son of Dennis 'Rivard and Julia Brunette. He attended the schools of that town and Newport. 'He worked for a time as tinsmith for the True Blanchard company in and on Mar. 24, 1903, he began work as brakeman on the Boston Maine Railway and in June, 1926, was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway.

He was retired from active railway service on June 11, 1938. "In 1892 he was united in marriage to Agues Normandin, of Newport and to child, George, was bosn. He now resides St. Johnsbury. Mrs.

Rivard's death occurred in November, 1936. Hie married Miss Ernestine Labounty of North, Troy in September, 1937, and Mrs. Rivard have made their home in that town since that time. He enlisted in Co. Vermont National Guard, on May 1898, at the time of the Spanish American War.

Mr. Rivard was a member and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newport for many years. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of in the Catholic Cemetery in Newport. Bearers were Claude Ricard, Olin Hardy, E.

C. duch*esneau, Frank Massey, Elijah Huntington and Louis Ba- fore. Committal services at the grave were in charge of Spanish American War veterans. Mr. 'Rivard invented and patented a railway car re-railer during his spare moments.

He was a quiet, accommodating, congenial person, and his humorous nature made many friends easily. His death will be moumed by his relatives and his of friends. He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Labounty, of North Troy; a son, George, of St. Johnsbury; a brother, James, of Barton; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Bernard, of Montreal, and Mrs.
